9th International Conference on Corporate Governance
18 - 19 September 2008, London

As recession moves from Wall Street to main street it is time to question the role of capital markets. Are they performing the role they were designed to? Stock markets are known to be the best human innovation for wealth creation? Can they do it equitably? Can we make them more transparent? Can markets work for inclusive growth? Can they work for triple bottomline benefits? Can we reduce their volatility? Can they usher a low carbon world? These are some of the questions to be addressed at our next International Conference on Corporate Governance in London. Here is the link for conference brochure http://www.wcfcg.net/iccg/brochure.pdf. Details are on our website www.wcfcg.net.

I am certain, you can make a significant difference to this important debate. I have, therefore, pleasure in inviting you to take part in the 9th International Conference on Corporate Governance on 18 - 19 September 2008 in London, so together we can move corporate governance to the next level. The theme of the conference is “Making Capital Markets Work Through Corporate Governance”.

In keeping with this strong solution oriented focus, this year’s conference follows a format to allow, indeed to encourage, participants to contribute in a choice of different ways.

There are a number of ways you could contribute: according to your needs and preference. These include:

· Submitting a paper or case study

· Organising a session on a topic of your choice from the list below

· Writing down the proceedings of a working group

· Supporting the conference as a sponsor

· Promoting the conference among your contacts as a partner

The uniqueness of this International Conference on Corporate Governance stems from the fact that it is not just an opportunity for sharing the latest on corporate governance but also networking with diverse minds and integrating perspectives and practices from some 30 countries across all continents.

There will be business leaders, senior policy makers, regulators, eminent jurists, academics, auditors, financial analysts, bankers and reputational agents. Conference aims to tap the rich tapestry of their experience to enrich governance thinking and practice. It’s object is to develop practically workable guidelines that stock exchanges, bankers, financial markets and regulators can follow.
